Dr. Carlos Salas
Originally from Brazil, Dr. Carlos Salas lived in several different countries as a child, including the United States. Dr. Salas completed his dental studies in Brazil, where he also completed a program in facial surgery and facial trauma. Later he would return to the United States to follow his dream of serving in the United States Navy.
While serving on an esteemed team under the command of highly esteemed oral surgeons, he was offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part Pacific Partnership 2010. This was a multi disciplinary military mission, where he would work with surgeons from several countries. During this mission, he participated in 70 cleft lip and palate repairs, in addition to other surgeries.
For his work, Dr. Salas was awarded the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal. He also co-authored Humanitarian Cleft Care in Southeast Asia: Military-Civilian Partnerships and the Role of the US Navy Ship Mercy, which was published in the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery. After his honorable discharge, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Salas believes in definitive dentistry, great quality of work, and fostering good relationships between patients and team members. By listening and genuinely caring about his patients, he has the unique ability to put patients at ease, even those who have had bad dental experiences in the past.
When he’s not practicing dentistry, Dr. Salas enjoys time with his two young children and together they take advantage of Colorado’s scenery and events. Dr. Salas is a big fan of live music, and enjoys playing the guitar himself. He keeps active by swimming, biking, and practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
